In modern society, many people think that higher education is very important. This is especially true in countries where university degree is seen as a symbol of success and a requirement for good jobs. I believe this focus is mostly positive, but some disadvantages should not be ignored.
One main reason why higher education is valued is because it gives people better job chance. Employers usually prefer candidates with degrees because they think they are more skilled and knowledgeable. In addition, many families believe that sending their children to university will improve their future life and social status. For many, it’s a source of pride.
In my view, this focus on higher education brings more advantages. People who graduate from university often get better salaries and have more job options. Also, they might become more aware of society problems and contribute more to their community.
However, not everyone needs a university degree. Some jobs, like plumber or electrician, require practical skills, not academic knowledge. Also, many students go to university just because of pressure, and later regret their choice. The cost of education is also a big problem for many families, and can cause financial stress.
To conclude, I think the emphasis on higher education is mostly good, but we should also respect other pathways. Not all success comes from university, and society should support different kinds of talents.
